Two Palestinian boys and nine women, aged 10 to 17, have been killed and seven others injured by an Israeli airstrike in the Gaza Strip, medics and witnesses said on Sunday.
The children were killed when a rocket fired from Gaza landed in a house in Beit Hanoun, a coastal Palestinian enclave.
A third child was wounded in the attack, medic Sami Abu Shamsi told AFP news agency.
Gaza Strip authorities said the children were in the home of an aunt and uncle when the strike hit.
The death toll in Gaza, where more than 1,000 Palestinians have been wounded in nearly three weeks of hostilities, is expected to rise.
Israel launched the offensive on Saturday to halt rocket fire from Gaza, which has killed at least 1,027 people.
