The Big 12 announced Monday that it would not be renewing its television contract with ESPN in 2019.
The league announced the news on its website and said it was made in consultation with the Big 12 Commissioner.
The Big 12, which plays six games each season, is in its third season with the conference after moving to the Big East in 2017.
The conference has never won an NCAA title, but has won the last two of its four Big 12 titles.ESPN announced in March that it was ending its contract with the league in 2019 after just one season.
ESPN had previously said it would continue to carry the Big Ten through 2019.ESPN said in a statement that it has been “very disappointed” by the Big 8’s decision to end its deal with the Longhorn Network.
“We remain committed to providing our fans with high-quality, exclusive content and to our student-athletes, coaches and administrators,” ESPN said.
“We look forward to working with our conference partners to explore new opportunities in the future.”
