Two dead, three wounded after beach resort resort shooting in Southern California

Two people were killed and three others were wounded after a shooting at a resort in Southern Los Angeles County, police said.

Police said the shooting happened at a private beach resort in the area of South Point Road and San Pedro Avenue about 11:20pm (AEDT).

“We’re aware of the incident and we have two people who were killed,” Lt.

John Walker said.

“Our officers responded to the scene, and one person has been taken into custody.” “

The resort’s operator, the Black Diamond Resort & Spa, said the incident had been reported about 12 hours earlier. “

“The resort is currently being assessed and we are in the process of assessing the situation,” it said.

Police said several witnesses reported seeing the man and the woman on the beach and that they were not wearing masks.

“It is believed that one of the individuals who was in the residence was one of our guests, and he was seen on surveillance video entering the resort, exiting the resort and leaving the scene,” Sgt. Chris Nance told reporters.

The shooting happened just outside the resort’s security gate, and no other details were immediately released. ABC/wires
